Because of its geographic location, the Middle East has always been a mosaic of religious, ethnic and cultural communities. These communities have often been at war with each other, causing great human suffering and the destruction of life and property. However, because of the importance of religion in their lives, these communities have also always been conscious of living in the cradle of God's revelation and therefore, have always longed for peace--a peace inclusive of justice and rooted in divine truth, as conceived in the Babylonian Talmud.
