About Qalaa Holdings
Qalaa Holdings, formerly known as Citadel Capital, is an investment company that owns and operates businesses across energy, mining, cement, agriculture and food, and transport and logistics in Egypt.
Its largest asset has been its stake in the Egyptian Refining Company, which operates a large refinery in Cairo that turns heavy fuel oil into higher-value products such as diesel.
The company has carried significant debt, so refinancing, asset sales and the performance of the refinery are the main issues investors follow.
